Obituary of Frank P Connelly
Frank P. Connelly, Jr. 76, of Halfmoon, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, Albany on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Cohoes, graduated from Cohoes High School Class of 1960, he attended classes at Hudson Valley Community College and Boston College. He was the son of the late Frank and Antoinette Frydel Connelly. Frank was a highly decorated veteran of the New York State Police. He joined the NYS Police in June 1967, stationed at Troop G, he retired as Senior Investigator in 1991. During his 24-year career with the NYSP he was the recipient of the George M. Searle Memorial Award presented to those who have distinguished themselves in training and education for his work as a firearms instructor and BCI Academy instructor. He loved his job, but more than anything he loved his family. His thoughtful ways and desire to help others was unmatched. Frank lived his life taking care of his wife, children and grandchildren. His wit and his charm were only matched by the size of his heart. He never missed an opportunity to bring a smile to those around him or fill a room with laughter. He belonged to North Troy Stag Rod & Gun Club, where he was an active member, competitive bulls eye shooter and trap shooter. He also belonged to the Clifton Park Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed his time in Lake George fishing with his first mate, playing golf, traveling and hunting with family and friends. He was a devoted family man. Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years Victoria Dubrey Connelly of Halfmoon, his children Kristin Connelly (Thomas Martin) of Latham, Michael Connelly of Cohoes, he was predeceased by his son Frank P. Connelly, III. Grandfather of Francesca, Ryan, Jonathan, Erin, Ava and Olivia, his daughter-in-law Pamela Connelly of Clifton Park. Brother of Beverly Hancock of Myrtle Beach, SC and Donald (Carol) Connelly of Cohoes and predeceased by his brother Anthony Connelly. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. At Frank’s wishes, there will be no public services. Private family services will be held. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Merkel at U Penn, Dr. Lee Shapiro, Saratoga and Dr. Stephen Sgambetti, Mechanicville for the wonderful care they gave Frank over the past 10 years. We would also like to thank Sara Dzembo, executive care coordinator for the PBA’s State Troopers Surgeons Program.
