Latham Alexander Murray, 90, of Latham formerly of Mechanicville and Cohoes, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 15, 2012 after a short illness. He was born in Aberdeen Scotland on January 17, 1922. Alex was a World War II veteran, serving in the British Royal Navy. He retired from Grand Union Co. in Waterford. Alex was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Janet Murray and 9 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jessie Murray of Latham, his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Walter Adey of Latham. Papa to his girls, Courtney Adey, Christen (Michael) Morris, Poppy to his great-granddaughter, Piper Ann Morris, his wee girl. Brother-in-law Douglas (Carol) Murray of Cohoes, sister Ruth Bainbridge of England. Unc to nieces Heather Morissey, Roberta (Brian) Dunlavey and families, also many other nieces and nephews. Alex was a loving, kind, generous man who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, especially playing bocce at family gatherings. His presence will be greatly missed by all especially his buddy Piper. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 pm. Services will be held Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. Those who wish to remember Alex in a special way may make a donation to the charity of ones choice.
