Notice to run Tuesday, November 13, 2012 Saratoga Springs - Deborah Lor Nelson, 54, of Saratoga Springs died at her home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. She was born in Saratoga Springs, educated in Troy and attended Hudson Valley Community College where she received her Cosmetology License. She was the daughter of the late Mary Lavoughn Payton and the late Charles Tillman. In 1978 Deborah was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. As a dedicated servant she spent many years in the full time pioneer service teaching about the promises of God and his resurrection hope. In 1988 Deborah opened “The New World Salon” in Saratoga Springs where she was known for her Color Cuts and Weaves. She relocated to North Carolina and in 2001 where she attended the Dudley Cosmetology University in Kernsville, NC she graduated and later taught as an instructor. Deborah was a gracious host and her love of cooking was known to many throughout the Capital Region and far beyond. Our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt and friend was known for her Lemon Lavoughn AKA Luscious Lemon pie and Pineapple pound cake which you could find at “Uncommon Grounds” coffee shop on Broadway, Saratoga. Deborah was in the process of publishing her cook book entitled “European Soul”. She will be forever missed and remembered for her beautiful smile. Deborah leaves to cherish her memories her beloved daughter, Erica T. McDonald of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., her step-father Larry E. Payton two brothers, Jeffery (Gayle) Nelson of Schenectady, Kith (Barbara) Burgess of Boston, MA, four sisters, Sheena (Phillip) Keels, Velma (Dwayne) Allen both of Troy, TYA Nelson and Alicia (Bernard) Climes both of Schenectady, four step-brothers, Horace Tillman, Perry Tillman of Saratoga, Charles Tillman, Jr. of CA, Jerry Tillman of Schenectady and Dennis Tillman of Albany, three step-sisters, Kelly Ann Brewington, Kara Tillman and Patricia Tillman all of Albany. Also survived by one uncle, Herman Nelson of Inverness, FL and two aunts Catherine Nelson of Inverness FL and Linda Armstrong of Albany. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 6PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on the corner of RT 50 and Edie Road, Wilton.
