Obituary of Claire M. Rosbozom
Claire Marguerite Rosbozom, nee Daigneault, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital after a courageous battle with breast cancer and dementia. Born on September 4, 1931, Claire was the oldest child of Romeo and Flora (Boyer) Daigneault. She is survived by her loving husband, John A. Rosbozom and her two devoted children, John A. Rosbozom of Cohoes and Janice A. Cook and son-in-law James of Latham. She was the beloved Memere of Colette Cook Barbaro (Billy) and Lauren Cook. She is also survived by her nephews Leo A. Daigneault, Jr. (Kelly), Mark A. Daigneault (Vic) and John P. Daigneault (Chantal), along with many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Leo A. Daigneault, Sr. (Marie) and Paul W. Daigneault. Claire grew up on Sargent Street in Cohoes, attending St. Joseph’s School. After the sudden death of her father on August 21, 1945, she opted to attend St. Joseph’s Commercial School instead of high school, graduating at age 15, so that she could begin working to help support her mother and two younger brothers. Claire and John met in 1949 at a mutual friend’s party. Their first date was the senior ball at LaSalle Institute which John attended. They were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Cohoes on April 25, 1953. They were blessed to be able to celebrate their 50th, 60th and 70th anniversaries with family and friends. They bought their home in 1956, where she raised her children and hosted many holiday parties and summer picnics. The door to her home was always open, where she greeted all with her beautiful smile along with homemade pie or cake and a cup of coffee. She enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling, including trips to Williamsburg VA, Bermuda, Hawaii, Alaska, Italy, England, and Ireland. Her favorite was the annual summer vacation to Cape Cod with her granddaughters. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish (formerly St. Marie’s) of Cohoes, a member of its Ladies of Ste. Anne, secretary of St. Marie’s School Mothers’ Club and a member of the Cohoes Columbiettes Council #192. She retired from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in 1991 and assisted in her husband’s accounting business. Claire lived her life with deep devotion to her family, enjoying simple pleasures and sense of duty with her devout Catholic faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin and St. Anne as her guides. Claire’s family would like to thank Kelly Daigneault, RN who lovingly helped with the difficult decisions that needed to be made and never left her side, Dr. Tami Seaman, Dr. Rafael Papaleo, Dr. Kelly Dennin, Dr. Rana Jacob, Dr. Justin Juliano and the office and medical staff at NYOH Radiation Department, Dr. Kevin Costello, and the doctors, nurses and staff at Samaritan Hospital’s ER and P5 who gave comfort and care to Claire and her family in her final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Concelebrated on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 10:30am at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.
