In our lives, certain individuals emerge as guiding lights, illuminating the path forward. For us, Aunt Jane Huang Hsu and her husband, Professor Hsu, were such inspirations during our journey to the United States in 1982. Their warmth and guidance turned a foreign land into a welcoming home, and their support became the foundation upon which our American dreams were built. The guidance they offered was not confined to academics; it extended to navigating the intricacies of a new culture, overcoming challenges, and embracing the opportunities that unfolded before us.
The memories of visiting Aunt Jane's old houses in Binghamton and Forest hills NY, remain etched in our minds like cherished photographs in an album of time. The creaking wooden floors, the inviting aroma of home-cooked meals, and the laughter that echoed through the halls with cousins Sigmund and Natalie created a sense of comfort that defined Aunt Jane and Professor Hsu's home.
In October 2022, we had the privilege of spending precious moments with Aunt Jane and Professor Hsu in their Manhattan condo and Forest hills home. The shared family stories, and the warmth of her presence created memories that will forever be cherished.
Among Aunt Jane's many accomplishments was her skillful penmanship in crafting a biography. Through her words and pictures, she brought her stories and our shared family history to life, preserving the legacies of those whose tales deserved to be told. It was a testament to her strong-minded nature and her ability to make every moment count.
As we remember Aunt Jane, let us also honor the inseparable bond she shared with her beloved husband, Professor Hsu. The echoes of their kindness, the warmth of their hospitality, and the lessons learned from their guidance remain woven into the fabric of our memories, a testament to the profound impact of their generosity. May these memories serve as a tribute to the legacy of Aunt Jane continue to inspire generations to come.
Love,
Huey-Ju and James Lee
