Your love for the theater was so amazing, touching and beautiful. From the time you graduated Carteret HS in 1971 I thought what a talent that the stage was in for! As children growing up with Aunt Florence and Uncle Clancy I learned about chickens in the yard and be careful where you step, the caged green crazy parakeet (did this one drink beer?), visits to the Jersey shore and Steeplechase Diving Horse in AC, ice cream store, our graduations, Karen and Fred's wedding and mostly me having the brother I didn't have. As we aged, sharing home owner stories about roof maintenance, wood fire places, your dogs and my Scouting stories. In time Steven needed move out of his beautiful home. In closing, I keep this writing close to my heart - "God's timetable is not ours, and his answer may not be the one we desire, but we hope for his mercy, and in the end, our faith is all we leave with." Rest in the Peace in the Lord above. Love in my heart always for you Steven as it was okay. See you again.

I still can't believe you are gone, Steven. We met by chance in a workshop of Glenn Treibitz' "Short Tenors" in Provincetown. The original director dropped out and Guy Wolf suggested you (thank God!!). We didn't only find a great director, we found a friend. Many good years followed. I will miss our times meeting in NYC for long weekends with Glenn and see shows. Remember, you wanted to visit my husband Gordon and me in Austria this year. Plans change, but we will see you somewhere else in the future. You were a real good guy, thanks for having been in our lives!

While deeply saddened by Steven's passing, I remain ever grateful that he was in my life these many years.
My brother, Richard and Steven were partners for 16 years until Richard's death in 1999, a loss still felt by those who knew and loved him.
Through these many years Steven and I stayed in touch, picking up where we left off with laughter, tears, remembrances and a sincere interest in each others lives, families and careers.
Steven was a man of many gifts and talents, he will be missed but remembered in the hearts of all of us who loved him - his spirit lives on!
My sincere condolences to Karen, Fred and family,
Donna Bassett
