Obituary of Georgianna Ellett
Cohoes – Georgianna (Ginger) Benoit Ellett, 83, of Cohoes passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Troy, graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy, Cohoes in 1957 and was the daughter of the late George and Anna Mai Benoit. Ginger worked for attorneys Walter Wertime and E. Stewart Jones and Cohoes Memorial Hospital as Director of Volunteers before retiring as secretary for the Cohoes City School District. She was a parishioner of Church of the Holy Trinity in Cohoes and was a member of the Cohoes Columbiettes, Council #192, she enjoyed working the monthly breakfast. Doug and Ginger loved to go to Disney with their family and spending time in Leesburg, Florida. Wife of the late Douglas A. Ellett. Mother of George Ellett of Cohoes, Deborah (Jeff) Matthews of Cohoes and Daniel (Susie) Ellett of Nashua, New Hampshire, grandmother of Ashley and Jason Ellett and Emily Zentis. Sister of Carl (Linda) Benoit of Waterford, Susan (Donald) Bourret of Troy, Evelyn (David) Dufresne of Cohoes, Jeanne (late Harold) Potts of Cohoes and the late Eleanore Reese. Also survived by her sister-in-law Marilyn Blom and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 10:30am in St. Ambrose Church, Latham. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford. The family will receive friends at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 3 to 6pm. Friends who wish to remember Ginger in a special way may donate to St. Peter’s Hospice in her memory.
