Obituary of Marshall J Smith
Cohoes – Marshall J. Smith (Smitty), 71, of Cohoes passed away at Albany Medical Center Hospital, on Sunday, September 5, 2021, after a brief illness. He was born in Troy and was the son of the late Chester E. and Patricia H. Cummins Smith. He graduated from Shaker High School. Marshall was a truck driver for Warren Fane in Troy. He had a love for trucks, Nascar and the Boston Red Sox. He had a heart larger than life; most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Alice Muzio Smith of Cohoes, his children Christopher Smith of North Carolina, Candace Smith of Clifton Park, and the late Marshall Smith, Michelle Desautels of Cohoes, and Julie (William) Wilmot of Green Island. Grandfather of Brandon, Andrew, Sarah, Caroline, Evelyn, Genevieve, William, and Carlee. Brother of Chester E. (Patricia) Smith, III of Texas, Gary Smith of Selkirk, Luanne Ferguson of Pennsylvania, and Mark (Robin) Smith of Maine, also survived by several nieces and nephews and his Special “Uncle Bill”, William Smith. Funeral Friday 11:00 am at the United Church of Cohoes, Mohawk Street, with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday, from 4 to 7pm. Friends who wish to remember Marshall in a special way may donate to the United Church of Cohoes Children’s Ministry in his memory.
