Stanley J. Pawenski, 84, of Cohoes passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, hours after his wife of 59 years Lora passed away. He was born in Waterford, NY and graduated from Cohoes High School. Son of the late Stanley W. and Josephine Jarosz Pawenski. Stan was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes. A member of OGNISKO, London, U.K., a member of the Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum, London, U.K. and a member of the British-Polish Council, London, U.K. A former member of the Cohoes Board of Education, President of St. Michael’s Community Center of Cohoes (1987-2007), Treasurer of the Cohoes Centennial Commission (1967), Treasurer of the Cohoes Bi-Centennial Commission (1975). Agriculturist with the family operating the last farm in Cohoes. Owned and operated an insurance agency in Clifton Park, NY with his wife, from 1965 to 2018. Stanley and Lora were world travelers to Europe and other countries many times. He is survived by his daughter Susan (John) Curtis of Cohoes, grand-daughters, Sara (Sean) Burwell of Cohoes and Sandra (Austin) Kipp of Troy, grandson, David (Crystal) Gregoire of Cohoes and several great grandchildren, also survived by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Lori Pawenski, granddaughter Mandy Curtis and sisters, Mary Cunningham, Pauline Nelson, and Helen DeLorme. Funeral services for Stanley and Lora will be held on Friday, 9:30am at St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford. The family will receive friends at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday, from 4 to 6pm. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed inside and outside of the funeral home.
