Obituary of Joseph Charland

Florida – Joseph (Art) Charland, 71, of Ridge Manor, Florida and formerly of Poestenkill, beloved husband and best friend of Laurel Fort Charland for 50 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he loved, lived for and laughed with on October 23, 2013. Born in Cohoes, he attended the Cohoes School District and was the son of the late Arthur and Ida Charland. Joe grew up in Cohoes then moving to Poestenkill where he spent most of his life with his family, then moving to Florida 18 years ago. He was a self employed floor mechanic for 35 years and was a member of the Carpenter’s Local #117, Albany. He was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Charland, brother Roger Charland, sister Florence Kusaywa and brother-in-law Walter Kusaywa. Survivors in addition to his wife Laurel, Joe is survived by his loving daughter Alice (Warren) Anderson of Bushnell, Florida, son John Charland, four grandchildren, brother Donald (Anne Marie) Charland of Spielgetown and several wonderful nieces and nephews. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we have spent with him. A memorial service will be held honoring Joe on a time to be announced at St. Jude’s Church, Wynantskill, N.Y.
