Cohoes – Gerald B. Lahue, 95, son of the late Ephriam and Ida Baker Lahue. He was born on September 17, 1922. Born, raised and died in his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 8, 2018. He attended Keveny Memorial Academy. He was employed by the D&H Railroad as a boilermaker. Gerry was part of the great generation. He served in the US Navy for four years in the South Pacific during WW II. Later Gerry served as a firefighter for the City of Cohoes for 30 years. Gerry was a member of the Cohoes Waterford Elks, and Sampson War Vets where he took his boot camp. Gerry was a HUGE Yankee fan, enjoyed traveling, fishing, golf, but most of all he loved puttering in his garage. Many neighbors and friends referred to him as the Mayor of Congress Street. When the garage door was open friends and neighbors would stop to visit and shoot the breeze with him. Husband of Alice Parker Lahue for 70 years. Father of Jacquelyn Lahue of Cohoes and Laurie (John) Birdsall of Saratoga Springs and the late Gerald J. Lahue. Grandfather of Kaitlynn (James) Boyd, Lisa (Kyle) Irving, Megan Birdsall and Sarah Lahue. He is survived by great grandchildren, that he loved and adored, Leo and Cruz Boyd, Auden and Sawyer Irving. Brother of the late Melvin Lahue and Leeward Lahue. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Most of all Gerry cherished and enjoyed his time with his family, especially his wife of 70 years, Alice. Thanks to Hospice for making his last days comfortable. Special thanks to Eva LaFond for her loving care for the past 3 years to enable dad to stay at home with us.
