Obituary of Rita C. Choiniere

Rita C. Boyer Choiniere, 102, formerly of Cohoes, passed away at the Teresian House, Albany with her family by her side on Sunday, July 22, 2018.  Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Rosa Miron Boyer.  Rita married Joseph “Bill” Choiniere on September 14, 1941 at St. Joseph Church in Cohoes.  Rita and Bill were married 64 years before his passing.   Rita worked as a seamstress and was a homemaker.  She loved to bake, cook and entertain.  Saturday night was always homemade spaghetti and meatball night at the Choiniere household.  Rita also loved picnics and parties and loved to dance.  She enjoyed music, especially French songs.  Rita and Bill loved to travel.  They frequently visited relatives in Canada, Florida and California.  Rita and Bill also enjoyed trips to casinos. Rita moved to the Teresian House in March 2014 at the age of 98.  She loved that she could get her hair done every week.  The nurses and staff loved her smile and amusing things she would say to make their day.  She loved all babies, especially her own grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Wife of the late Joseph Choiniere.  Mother of Dennis (Donna) Choiniere of Colonie, grandmother of Lauren Choiniere, Joseph (Dana) Choiniere and Katelyn Choiniere and great grandmother of Hailey and Abigail.  Sister of the late Bertha Boyer, Romeo Boyer, Marie Hebert, Frank Boyer and Meddard Boyer.  Also survived by many nieces and a nephew.  Funeral Thursday 10:30am from the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.  Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm.  The family would like to thank the Teresian House nurses and staff, Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes and Community Hospice for their love and support given Rita.
