Obituary of George D. Turner

George D. Turner, Jr. 73, of Cohoes, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 after a short illness.  Born and educated in Troy, he is the son of the late George and Dorothy Warren Turner.  He was employed at Empire Wholesalers – Almo Distributors in Latham for many years before retiring.  George was an avid Yankee, Raiders and NASCAR fan.  Predeceased by his sister Dorothy LaBounty and his brother Frank Turner.  He is survived by his wife, Maria Pondillo Turner of Cohoes, his children David A. Edwards (Rita), Michael J. Edwards, Sr. both of Mechanicville and Brian J. Edwards (Patricia) of Troy, 9 grandchildren; Tiffany (Ricky), Michael, Jr. (Brianna), Jordan, Austin (Leah), Cameron, Jessica (Chad), Thomas (Justin), Douglas (Cor) and Ava and 6 great grandchildren; Mackenzie, Mercedes, Mackaylee, Mason, Sophia and Jacob. He cared for his nieces and nephews as a second father; Diana Blake, Patricia Kelly, Sherry Phillips, Tina Gomes, Geraldine Hornick, Michelle Charron, Anthony LaBounty, Jr., Debbie Fitzgerald, Roseanne Teal and Frank Turner, Jr., also survived by several great nieces and great nephews; Danny, Timmy, Charlie, Jason, Anthony, Tonya, Bobby Jo, George R., Jessica, Kevin, Tommy, Brian, Chrystal, Randy and AJ.   A funeral service will be held on Friday, 11:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Deacon Charles Valenti officiating.  Interment will follow in Memory Garden’s, Colonie.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7pm.
