Elaine C. Castracane, 86, of Cohoes passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 after a long illness. Born and educated in Cohoes, daughter of the late Philip and Josephine Woods Bruneau. She was a nurse’s aide at the Cohoes Memorial Hospital and the Eddy Ford Nursing Home for many years. A communicant of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes. Wife of the late Paul J. Castracane. Mother of Timothy (Cathy) Castracane, Paul Castracane, Margaret Castracane, Patricia (David) VanBrabant and the late Philomena (Penny) Yusitis. Sister of Margaret Gage. Pre deceased by 5 siblings. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Wednesday, 9:30am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Deacon Gerald Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7pm. Those who wish to remember Elaine in a special way may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society.
