Susan M. Beattie, 71, of Amity Street, Cohoes and Lake George passed away at Samaritan Hospital, Troy on Friday, February 27, 2015 after a short illness. Born in Cohoes, graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. Daughter of Gladys Van Buskirk Beattie of Cohoes and the late Raymond M. Beattie. She retired from Niagara Mohawk as a dispatcher after 49 1/2 years of service. A member of the 25 year Club at Niagara Mohawk, a member and past board member for the Cohoes Historical Society and past member of Uncle Sam Ski Club. She belonged to the Lake George Region Women for Win and past member of Pilot Knob Association. She was a communicant and Eucharist Minister at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes and Sacred Heart Church, Lake George. She was an avid volley ball fan of Nazareth College and Lake George, an avid reader and she liked to travel all over the world. Survivors in addition to her mother, is her brother Raymond (Karen) Beattie of Cohoes and her sister Nancy (Paul) Nichols of Lake George, her nephew and Godson, Scott (Alicia) Nichols, nieces Heather (Ben) McGuire, Jennifer (Joe) Genovese, nephews Matthew Beattie, Christopher (Brandi) Beattie , Geoffrey Beattie, also survived by 5 grandnephews and 3 grandnieces. Funeral Tuesday, March 3, 2015 9:00am at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Monday from 4 to 7pm. Those who wish to remember Susan in a special way, may make a contribution to Church of the Holy Trinity Food Pantry, Cohoes, Sacred Heart Church Food Pantry, 50 Mohican Street, Lake George, N.Y. 12845 or Lake George Region Women for Win, PO Box 110, Lake George, N.Y. 12845 in Susan's memory.
